A Cold Beginning
It was a bitterly cold 17° when we all started at 7:00am but that didn’t keep our Team of volunteers from welcoming ten newly Retired Racing Greyhounds that arrived from Alabama. This group of dogs is an even mix of males and females. They got, what was most likely a first for them, a taste of Ohio’s lovely, however unpredictable, winter.
After getting in a good stretch, a dose of preventive medicines and micro-chipped, they ended their long road trip at ORW and NCCC where they’ll begin learning some life skills in the Team Greyhound Prison Program.
We’ll get these new arrivals on the website soon so you can see their beautiful faces.
Bowser is out of prison!
TP Baver “Bowser” has been in the prison program for quite a long time. Today, we are happy to say that he left with us after we dropped off the new arrivals and has gone to his foster home in the Columbus area. Next for him will be finding a loving home so he can spend his days on a comfy couch with his legs pointed to the ceiling.
Fostering is an important part of finding homes for these dogs. We are in need of fosters or returning fosters. If you are interested in fostering one of our Greyhounds, please complete an application on our website. If you are a previous foster and would like to foster again, please use the contact form to send us a message.
Hilliard Meet & Greet
At 1:00 in the afternoon, we arrived at the Hilliard PetSmart for our monthly Meet & Greet with a larger than normal crowd. The Greyhounds gave each person an opportunity to receive wet nose kisses and “leg leans“. In return, the Greyhounds got lots of pets and love. It was a great group.
Four adoptions today made the day perfect and is our goal for each and every Retired Racing Greyhound in our care. If you would like to help, click here for things you can do. Those interested in adopting can submit an application on our website.
