Adopt A Greyhound

Seniors Are Greyt

in Do you know about our Adopting a Senior Program?

Team Greyhound occasionally has older dogs available for adoption.  Some of the older females were brood mamas; they were used for breeding after their racing careers were over.  Sometimes seniors are returned to Team Greyhound when their families are no longer able to keep them.  Whatever the reason they are with us, these senior dogs all have one thing in common: they want a forever home and family.

Because greyhounds have an average lifespan of 14 years, even the seniors have many years of love to offer.  Because they’ve been pets already, their adjustment into a new home can be very easy.  They are fully vetted by our group, like our younger retirees, so they will come with a clean bill of health. We do also offer a reduced adoption rate for these dogs.  They may not be as active as they once were, but they make excellent companions nonetheless.  For the most part, all they need is a warm spot to lay and plenty of love.

Adopting a senior is a rewarding and compassionate act.  Will you consider allowing a senior to race into your heart?

If you don’t want to adopt a senior, we are always looking for foster homes to take on these dogs.  As a foster family and having a senior in your house, they sometimes may take a little longer to get adopted. So this is something that your family does need to consider.  But it is always a rewarding experience to foster whether the dogs are old or young.  Team Greyhound does supply the food and any vet care that is needed while they are in you home.
