Gabe Cuda "Cuda" Pending

Adoption Pending

Meet Cuda!  Cuda is a young boy who broke his leg and retired before he could ever officially race.  His leg was surgically repaired with a plate and 6 screws.  He had an excellent inmate trainer and he knows so many commands: sit, down, speak, heel, stay, shake, come, and even BANG (when you point at him and say bang, he rolls over like he’s dead).  He is a very tall and lean fellow, tipping the scales at 86 pounds, though like most greyhounds, he can curl up into a little ball when he sleeps.  Cuda is very enthusiastic about pretty much everything.  He acts like everything you do with him is the best thing EVER.  Pull out his leash?  Roooooo!  Have a treat in your hand?  He’ll instantly sit and offer you his paw.  Come down the stairs?  He’ll wag that corkscrew tail of his like a whip!  On the other hand, he is very well-behaved when left home alone in his crate.  He whines for a few minutes, and then settles in for a nap until you return (usually in the roaching position).

Cuda is an energetic, playful, and boisterous boy.  He is very confident and happily meets strangers and other dogs.  Though, if he sees another dog (or something else that moves) that he can’t reach, he sometimes barks with excitement and pulls on his leash.  Cuda is very friendly with other dogs, but his size and exuberance can be overwhelming.  He is living with a medium-sized male mutt and three cats.  The cats intrigue him a bit, but he generally leaves them alone.  He loves to play with his dog foster brother.  Some greyhounds are content to sun themselves in the yard, or maybe stick by their people, but Cuda needs to be in the thick of the action!  He’ll run around the yard with his foster brother until he absolutely can’t anymore.  If there’s no one to run around with, he’ll grab a stuffie and toss it around and do some zoomies for a few minutes.

Cuda would love an active family that will attempt to tire him out every day.  Someone patient but firm would be great, since sometimes his excitement gets the best of him.  If this family happens to have peanut butter for him, well…it sounds like a match made in heaven for Cuda!

**Cuda is awaiting surgery to repair his leg again (one of the screws is causing him some trouble).  It is scheduled for November 29.  Once that has been done and he is healed, he will be good as new and available for adoption.**
